Desiderio Sanzi is an Italian filmmaker and artist whose work is distinguished by its versatility and ability to explore multiple forms of expression, including painting, installations, video production, and directing.

 

Among his most significant artistic achievements is his participation in the 54th Venice Biennale in the Cuban Pavilion in 2011, as well as his presence in two editions of the Havana Biennale in 2012 and 2015. He also made his mark at the 4th Biennale “Fin del Mundo” in Valparaiso, Chile, in 2015.

 

Over the years, Desiderio has created various cinematic works, including the trilogy of short films Beauty Hazard, Confabula Spurio, and I Love My Queen, as well as the pair of short films Bluesky and They Win on the Sky. He also produced his first feature film titled ¡Ahora Sí Llego! in 2013, which received support from the Cuban government.

 

His artistic talent has been recognized in numerous international exhibitions and festivals. Over the years, he has continued to showcase his work in prestigious venues such as the Fabbrica del Vapore and the MACRO (Italy).

 

Among his most recent projects are Malebolge, a public project realized during the September 2019 Ameria Festival, and the feature film Artaserse in 2020. In 2024, his new film Mirtillo will be released.
